I guarantee you they won't do a thing with it. in fact they won't even be able to take it home (the workers that is) because they are not allowed to, it's almost like accepting bribes, right? You are missing the point! Those flowers aren't meant for them! It is to show our protest in a unique way that will attract attention from the media! Till date there are only 3 websites that I have come across that covers this fiasco... Don't you want our plight announced in the media???
It may not make a difference today... but it will definitely make a difference tomorrow if we keep it up. Let the public know more about this broken immigration system. Raise awareness about every pain that we go through!

Here is the list of phone numbers, fax numbers and emails. Sending fax only is not enough. Please call the senators and talk to their staff. Request them to oppose Bingaman's amendment. The script on talking point is available on the website. Please use that.

Based on the information, it seems like the consulate is not convinced about the employment or the client letter was not sufficient to prove the employment. You might have to seek help from lawyer sheela murthy to find out what the US consular is looking for in a client letter.
I wouldn't suggest a visitor visa as it might signal other intentions. They probably are aware that you can apply change of status(I-539) from B2 to H4. Consult lawyer murthy and try the H4 once again.

AFAIK, oneway ticket originating US can't be bought in India. You need to cancel ticket, and buy a return (both way) ticket.
Usually tickets bought in India is cheaper - so there are these restrictions.
It is possible to buy a ticket from US for a journey originationg from India. Airlines passes instruction and Tickets are issues in India.
Rules might have changed, but this was latest information from my side.

There is no law that says that you need to work for your employer for such and such nr of moths after getting GC. However, it is advisable to work for as long as you can for the original employer to avoid issues at naturalization stage.

Folks,
My wife's first name has been misspelled on the Finger Printing notice as well as the I-485. My lawyer has advised me to reschedule the FP so as we can ask USCIS for the correction.
I was wondering if any of you guys ran into the same issue and went for the finger printing anyways.
If yes, please share your experience.

Keith Ellison, Congressman from MN was in Milwaukee, WI today.
I had a chance to meet with him on a small gathering for his fund raiser.
He is a member of Judiciary commitee.
We asked him questions on how to become more active in Politics, how Congress works etc etc.
He gave a good example:
He said politicians are like a mom with many kids..one kid is labor union asking for help for their issues, other is teachers union etc etc.
And if one kid is shy and does not say anything then he is not going to get anything.
Point is very simple, Congress needs to heard like crazy from legal Immigrants about issues. So please on Mon during lunch call your congressman every day for next week. Send them faxes, emails etc.
So when they vote they know that what are issues for legal immigrants.
If you don't then you won't get anything. It is that simple.

I have the exact same question for the original poster. Do you know someone or have heard from several people who were scrutinized about intent after leaving the employer upon GC approval ? I know folks who left with in few months and completed naturalization without any issues, but that's an anecdotal evidence and doesn't prove anything. Please let us know your source of information.

How did you guys manage to get H1's so recently from H4?
Is there a way that H4 are exempt from the H1 quota?
The H4 to H1 applied in 2006 quota is very slow.Some cases are getting approval even in jan(one of my friends wife got approval last week).
No rule yet to exempt H4 from H1 quota.

If we divide that equally, it could mean hardly 4900/3 =1633 primary applicants get approved each year in each category !! Is my inferences incorrect ? [someone tell me its better than this]

The firm I work for is also signed up for E-Verify. It's lawyers were cool with the receipt rule. I have also checked this with the international student's office at my grad school. I am absolutely sure this is OK to do.
Remember, that the I-9 receipt rule (and e-verify) is not just for international students. It is also meant for permanent residents and citizens who happen to be waiting for a lost document to be replaced. It is unthinkable that they would be asked to stay at home while the govt agencies mail them their documents.
Your HR is wrong. Find the relevant info on this from the DHS website and fight with them. Remember, unless you plan to work in the HR department, it is probably OK to pick a fight with them. :-)

Hi,
Do the h4's in this year applying for an H1 need to start sooner than normal h1 applications?
Filing immediately after they open in April is good option.If new H1 increase bill is not passed then the current numbers won't long enough.

I think still there are some people waiting for their finger printing? Thousands for I-140 approval and ofcourse there are people from even 2001 waiting for I-485 approval. Most would have got their receipts, I think.
