Looks pretty good, it's a "fast G4", so youtube will probably be watchable, if not silky smooth, moreso if you install clicktoflash and dodge the flash version of the video.
If there's an airport card installed, it'll work, if not you'll need to buy one and install it yourself (see ifixit.com for instructions, and everymac, lowendmac, or mactracker to confirm, but I think it's an "airport extreme" card), or get one of them usb dongle type things.
It's a pretty sweet machine, but you have now posted it on a public forum, so the bidding might get a bit out of hand!?

I plan to meet, I'm 24
but of note:
The specialty program "A Day at the Office: Microsoft Office 2008" will be ending with a panel session with the MacBU group at 6:30 on Monday and I will be attending... I assume no one else here will have this problem, but just saying.

Apple will announce Internet Radio capability on new iPod. With WiFi capability new iPods will able to tune into specially designated Internet Radio stations operated by Apple. And with one click listeners will able to purchase, via wireless download the song recently heard via the Apple Internet Radio channels. :o

We've just learned that Apple has ordered the app developer of a Web browser for iPhones and iPads to disable vital functionalities in the two devices. The gatekeepers at the iTunes store, which sell the highly-rated German browser iCab, ordered it to disable all Javascript code in iPads and iPhones.
Terribly, terribly deceptive summary. Apple requested they remove JavaScript ADDONS, not remove JavaScript functionality which is still carried out through WebKit.
Still stupid though. Didn't realize iCab had this functionality. Would be cool for Javascript injection xD

Hit the "Capture Now" button, end your capture with "esc.".
It should ask you to name the clip.
You could always "Import" the "Media" folder of iMovie captures too - I primarily use this when I'm capturing analog video that lacks a timecode that FCX can use.

I just purchased one of the otterbox defenders on eBay for my iPhone 4 :D. I was just wondering is anyone would like to tell me some thoughts on the case such as whether they like it or not, some tips for using it, pretty much anything would be helpful.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I salvaged 4 of the 1st generation iMacs from a storage closet. Unfortunately the RAM is so abysmal that I can't begin to install OS X.
I can't find OS 9.x install discs for a reasonable price. They're all a fortune.
If anyone can help me acquire, borrow, copy, torrent, whatever a version of this OS we (my students and I) would appreciate it.
Of course, you're asking, "What the heck will students do with these relics?" We have kids with multiple disabilities. We're running some VERY basic software, games, etc. So these iMacs will provide basic functionality needed.
Cheers,
Brian
Question, what is this machine running right now. its important because if it really is a first generation iMac, it needs to have had the firmware update 1.2 installed first. If you don't do that, OS 9 won't install. if its been running 8.6 or higher, it should be fine. This applies to all tray loading iMacs.
If its a slot loader, you don't have to worry about it.

The stock analysts have target prices on Apple as high as $550.
I have absolutely no doubt that will happen, so I am holding my large position in Apple.
A broker can give you suggestions how to buy without a SS#.

history will look back and focus on the day Apple got into bed with Intel as being the turning point for Apple computer sales. market share has been steadily on the rise since then.
The funny thing is that I'm one of those people that was convinced that once Apple was able to run Windows XP, I could buy a Mac. So, I bought one, loaded WinXP thru Bootcamp and the only time I use it is for my taxes.
I thought I'd need office, but it wasn't long before I just bought a copy of OfficeMac 2004 and I've never looked back. I haven't booted into XP since last Oct 15th. Go figger.

While running Handbrake, open the OSX Activity Monitor and look at the CPU usage meter (Command-2). Are both your processors maxed out at full? If so, then it's probably not a question of the Hard drive being too slow, as it's feeding the program with enough data to keep it running full blast.

What do you do for work and why?
I maintain servers and enterprise applications from an infrastructure perspective. I'm involved in upgrading two of those enterprise applications at once and I'm on a tight dead line :(

So your assertation is that since nature takes a long time to make changes on it's own, any changes we make much faster will be OK. That makes sense, insomuch as now i know that the anti-global-warming people just aren't applying any logic anymore.
My thoughts exaclty.
Sdashiki, when people talk about global warming, they usually don't refer to the phenomenon per se (which is a natural process that changes climate slowly over thousands of years), but to the part of it that is caused by human activities (which is a rapid change of climate due to the emission of greenhouse gases).
from a scientific (NOT environmentalist) point of view cant be proven
Well that's interesting, but "actual" scientists mostly agree that it is real (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_warming):
The scientific opinion on climate change, as expressed by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and explicitly endorsed by the national science academies of the G8 nations, is that the average global temperature has risen 0.6 0.2 C since the late 19th century, and that "most of the warming observed over the last 50 years is attributable to human activities",
Anyway, what can't be easily proven is that these hurricanes are related to global warming, not that global warming is taking place.

byteSizeOfElement is wrong. Your code will only work (if all other bugs are fixed) with 64 bit code, not with 32 bit code.
Care to explain why?
Having little faith in the user (mainly me) to actually release the pointer, I already decided to get the value by passing a reference.
-(void) element:(void *) element

coming from someone who listens to music almost constantly, i have to disagree. i have a 20+ GB library and i make playlists based on the entire library. in other words they wouldn't fit on a nano. i like hearing a mix of my favorites along with new stuff.
All that music has gone to your head. :p
Both Ipods serve different needs, so I am not going to elaborate into it since it's been written to death. For the OP, the nano is a big leap forward from his shuffle and I see portability is especially important to him. Yeah, yeah, some will argue the regular iPod is portable, but that argument is pretty lame when it's taken on a treadmill.
Would that OP need more space in the future, sure, but that doesn't mean he'll need all the songs at his fingertips at once, unless he likes to have his pants drooped to his knees. 1000 songs will provide over 3 full days of music, thats 72 hours in geekspeak. And probably of that, 100-200 or so are songs he'll want to listen to more than once.

These are static graphics, right? Technically speaking, these files are loaded from the server into RAM by the program, and if there isn't enough RAM it'll write to a local scratch disk. Once the user starts working, they operate on the data in RAM or the scratch disk -- NOT the original file. This allows a full undo/revert workflow. This means that merely by opening the files, they're performing the equivalent of pulling them to the local disk and then opening them...and they're doing so in one step.
If an issue were to occur while saving the file, the server's copy may be corrupted. However, the user would be alerted and they could save the file locally.
Get off their case :D

Deleting the plist did not fix the problem bt deleting the INBOX.mbox did. Unfortunately it also took out all the emails I already had in the INBOX, so i'm glad I just left it on the desktop.
This has been a strange day and it all started when I subscribed to .Mac for the first time.
I wonder if that was just a coincidence.
