I am too new at CS5 to be of much help, but I wonder if this would be of any help to you (?):
a. Take a good quality RAW photo of the picture, and open this RAW image in Camera Raw as a Smart Object. See if you can adjust the area that is too light (left of the photo).
b. Now, double-click on the image shown in the Layers panel, which in turn will open a layer of the image in Camera Raw. Now adjust the dark side of the image, and then click on "Done." The result is two layers blended into one.

I forgot, that the Mini DisplayPort is transmitting only a digital signal and Component is analog.
The DVI adapter you use is not converting from digital to analog, as DVI can also transmit analog signals and the adapter you use may "look" for the analog part, but it is not there. You may need a converter like this (http://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-TV-PCCT-VGA-Component-Converter/dp/B002R35ID2/ref=sr_1_12?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1300912099&sr=1-12) and a MDP to VGA adapter from MonoPrice.

Personally, I think trying to get your hands on a G4 iBook with USB 2.0 might be a better bet.

Hi Everyone:
I've come back to the mac world. I've been away ever since my apple G3 was stolen. Now, I bought an apple I3 IMac 27". Hummm, I still miss my G3. Anyways, let's get to the problem.
In these threads, everyone is having problems with their IMac's not sleeping in Windows 7. Well not me. For me, my IMac is not sleeping in OS X [10.6.7]. I thought there was a hardware issue. Just to make sure it was not, I erased the hard drive and reinstalled the OS. Then, it was fine for awhile until I started installing software. The last thing I installed was skype in OS. And now it does not go to sleep in OS. Why doesn't my IMac fall asleep on its own in OS X? Could it be boot camp? Or, could it be skype? And yes, I reset the PRAM and followed the directions on the apple web-site and I even called apple care but, to no avail. I should have bought a Windows machine!
Just kidding....
Can someone help me please? If it's a skype issue then, I understand. But, why on earth would skype prevent my IMac from sleeping even when it is closed. It just doesn't make any sense for the programmers to have skype conflict with OSX 10.6.7; they would have resolved these types of conflicts by now.

To return to the thread, Lion has been remarkable stable so far. I like it better than Snow Leopard, it is just that most of the new features aren't really cutting it for me. Are there others here who feel the same?

Technically you can't return a digital download so they would in effect be giving it to you free hence the lack of refunds.
It is the same reason retailers don't have to offer refunds on CDs, DVDs or Games (at least in the UK). You can quite easily buy the CD or whatever, rip it and then return it and get it for free.
+1. In the U.S. its actually illegal (for the business) to return an opened copy of a software or CD and exchange it for something else (I understand the OPs situation is different). I used to work at Circuit City and Best Buy about 12 years ago (and before that KB Toys) and we used to have training on this. Any exception that is made results in the store taking the full hit.

Yes a keyboard will be useful but the most important thing in a studio is sound. If you can't hear what you're doing it's so frustrating. If you're just starting out you may think that having ok sound will do the trick but it won't be long before you're not sure if you're hearing your mix or your speakers when you're mixing on bad speakers. I'd much rather make house music with good sound than a keyboard.
For good speakers, you're looking for near field monitors, they differ from standard speakers in that they try to reproduce accurately the sound you feed them, standard speakers try to "sound good". There's a pretty big difference between the two, sounding good usually means a compressed sound with not a lot of middle frequencies. For house, you'll probably want a sub.
Either way, a keyboard is nice to have, if you don't have any previous experience with keyboards, you might as well just get the 25 key (get it velocity sensitive especially useful for drums). M-audio have a pretty good value.
yeah but this is why i suggested he gets a set of klipsch promedia 2.1 speakers, which are thx certified and fairly accurate (good for checking mixes).
but for his main mixing he can use sennhesier hd280 pro headphones.
plus bottom end in house is a major concern, and he is not going to be able to afford a good enough set of monitors thats going to hit the lows he wants. cheap monitors do not get very loud nor have much bottom end to them which is why i got the klipsch and sennhesier headphones until i can afford a good set of monitors.
edit: plus hes obviously not insanely serious about production just yet which just further justifies my suggestion.
